Harris County is taking steps to improve its rescue capabilities. A new Swiftwater Rescue Training Facility is being built at 1731 Hugh Road. This center will provide a space for local emergency personnel to practice water rescues and other skills in a controlled environment.

The facility is intended to address a gap in local training options. Previously, first responders had to travel outside the region for specialized swiftwater rescue training. With the new facility, deputies, constables, firefighters, and other personnel will have access to training closer to home.
